Potain MD 485s speedy jumps keep Chicago tower construction on track
28/07/2016
The ability to quickly adjust the height of a Potain MD 485 B M20 tower crane is keeping construction of a 34-story apartment tower in Chicago on schedule. The 3.4 USt capacity crane is lifting 2.5 USt concrete buckets, 2 USt precast segments and other various scaffolding parts to heights of up to 500 ft. Paul Urbanski, sales manager for Central Contractors Service, a division of the ALL Family of Companies, said that the company chose the crane because of its need for fewer “collars,” or “tie-ins,” when jumping floors, which saves the company considerable time over the course of the project, increasing its return on investment.
