Mexico’s growing energy sector gets new Grove GMK6400

1/28/2016

GMVykon, a Monterrey, Mexico-based equipment rental specialist, just took delivery of a Grove GMK6400. With the purchase, the 400 t (450 USt) all-terrain crane became one of the highest-capacity cranes on the company’s fleet and it will be used to support maintenance of oil and steel production facilities in the northeast part of the country.

“The GMK6400 provides a series of design features that makes it a great fit for work in the energy sector in Mexico and elsewhere,” said Jorge Zanella, Manitowoc’s local sales manager for Grove. “The crane can easily move around on job sites and its quick setup and maneuverability ensures work goes on at an efficient pace.”

SITSA, the Mexico City-based Grove, National Crane and Manitowoc dealer arranged the sale and delivery of the crane to GMVykon.

The GMK6400 is the strongest six-axle all-terrain crane on the market, carrying 60 m (197 ft) of main boom. Its innovative systems, such as the self-rigging MegaWingLift capacity enhancing attachment and MegaDrive, the conventional/hydrostatic driveline, lead the market.

GMVykon’s GMK6400 is the second unit to enter the Latin America market – the first was delivered in early 2015 to Transportes y Grúas Auriga, based in Santiago de Querétaro, also in Mexico. With more than 40 years of experience in the industrial and service sectors, GMVykon offers lifting and logistics solutions to the surrounding Monterrey area.
