Manitowoc and SSK hold event to strategize over Peru’s crane market

8/10/2016

Manitowoc organized a luncheon with its Peruvian dealer and service center SSK to discuss upcoming opportunities and trends that are shaping the crane and lifting industry in the country. Approximately 45 companies were represented at the occasion, held in Lima.

Gerardo Castillo, Manitowoc’s regional business manager for Peru and Argentina, said the gathering gave crane professionals a chance to connect and share experiences amid regional and worldwide economic uncertainty.

“We hope the conversations carried out at the event will turn into expanded opportunities for all the people involved in Peru’s crane industry,” he said.

Gilberto Ferreira, Manitowoc’s director of customer service in Latin America, said that the event was a valuable chance to gauge customers’ perceptions of Manitowoc, and to showcase the company’s extensive experience and support network around National Crane boom trucks.

“SSK is eager to continue to work with Manitowoc to further advance in the local market,” he said. “In 2017 we will increase our support capacity in the country and continue to invest in the technical education of our field engineers. The partnership with SSK is growing strong and has proved to be a successful move.”

A 27.2 t (30 USt) National Crane 1300A boom truck was on display during the event. The crane is popular in Peru and other South American countries, due in part to its class-leading features and easy transport from job site to job site.

SSK, a Sigdo Koppers company, is a National Crane dealer and has a service center for Grove and Manitowoc in Peru. The company was created in 1998 and specializes in contractor services for the mining, energy generation and industrial assembly sectors, among others. Founded in 1960, Sigdo Koppers is based in Santiago, Chile.
