Manitowoc’s customer services on display at M&T show

5/13/2014

Manitowoc Crane Care will highlight its unrivaled menu of after-sales solutions at the M&T Parts and Services Expo 2014, held this year from June 3-6 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, at the Imigrantes Exhibition & Convention Center.

Crane Care representatives will offer visitors information about Manitowoc’s comprehensive range of services and innovative products, including its 24/7 technical support, crane inspection and repair services, global parts and maintenance support, and training resources.

Manitowoc is constantly improving its Crane Care offerings to keep pace with ever-changing demands around the world. In Brazil and other South American countries, for example, considerable attention goes to the region’s mining and energy industries, which have grown steadily over the past decade.

“We’ll keep investing in infrastructure and logistics to fully support the region’s sustained growth, which averages 3% to 4% annually, according to local estimates,” said Leandro Nilo de Moura, Manitowoc’s marketing manager f0r Latin America. “We also expect to see an uptick in spending on energy projects, particularly on wind power plants, capitalizing on the region’s underutilized potential.”

Popular in the region is Manitowoc’s EnCORE program, which will be represented at the show. This program gives customers a local and cost-effective solution that not only extends the service life of a crane, but also ensures any repair and refurbishment work performed is held to the highest standards.

Through EnCORE, Manitowoc provides full commercial, technical and financial support for its customers. To reflect the high-quality standard of EnCORE work, Manitowoc fully certifies the load charts of all cranes remanufactured under the program.

Visitors will also be able to see the benefits of CraneSTAR, the company’s groundbreaking telematics system. CraneSTAR uses a dual-band approach, meaning it is able to work on both GSM networks, to maximize its connectivity.

CraneSTAR leads in a new era of data management and planning for crane owners around the world by providing real time crane fleet information to engineers and operators, regardless of location. “This is a feature no other system in the crane equipment industry currently offers,” said Marcelo Medeiros, Manitowoc’s director of CraneCare division.

Also on display will be Manitowoc’s Crane Control System (CCS). This standard operating system is being rolled out across Manitowoc’s product range so that operators only need to learn one system to operate cranes from Manitowoc, Grove, Potain and National Crane. A crane cab that demonstrates CCS will be one of the company’s many booth attractions.

Lastly, Manitowoc will also display the new KZ™100 synthetic rope, the latest enhancement to its line of mobile cranes. The synthetic hoist rope, developed in partnership with Samson, a leading rope manufacturer, is considered a technological breakthrough in the crane industry.

The KZ™100 rope is up to 15 times stronger than steel and 80% lighter than wire. It boasts torque neutral construction that eliminates load spin and cabling. The material also makes for easy handling, reeving and installation as it reduces kinking, bird caging and damage from other types of cable-spooling issues.

“We are confident that dealers and customers will see what a leap in technology this first synthetic hoist rope is for the lifting industry,” said Mike Herbert, global product director for rough-terrain cranes at Manitowoc. “It’s a lighter and more innovative product that ushers in a new era of hoist ropes.”

M&T Parts and Services Expo 2014 should attract 20,000 visitors and 280 exhibitors to its 36,000 m² (118,110 ft²) of exhibition space. Replacement parts, supplies, and services for construction and mining equipment in Brazil total an estimated R$6 billion (US$2.73 billion) per year.
