Manitowoc ends Australian distribution deal for TRT’s PC25 crane

7/1/2014

As of June 30, 2014, Manitowoc Cranes will no longer sell the PC25 pick and carry crane in Australia. The crane is manufactured by Tidd Ross Todd Ltd., and Manitowoc began selling the New Zealand-built unit to customers in June of last year. However Manitowoc no longer feels able to properly support and market the PC25, in addition to its own full range of mobile, crawler and tower cranes. The PC25 is a 25 t capacity pick and carry crane, built at TRT’s Hamilton facility, which it will now sell and support directly in both New Zealand and Australia.

TRT is Manitowoc’s official dealer for its full line of Grove mobile cranes, Potain tower cranes and Manitowoc crawler cranes in New Zealand, and that arrangement will continue.

Announcing the end of the distribution arrangement for the PC25, Kelvin Kent, general manager for Australia and New Zealand at Manitowoc Cranes, said:

“We were happy to offer the PC25 pick and carry crane to our customers as it’s a product we don’t currently build ourselves,” he said. “However, with the sales market for cranes under pressure in Australia, we no longer felt we could support and develop this crane in the manner it needed. This feeling is understood by TRT. The relationship between our company and TRT stretches back four decades and we will continue to work together as partners for the sale of Manitowoc products in New Zealand. We also wish TRT well as they develop their own sales network for the PC25 directly. Manitowoc remains available to assist TRT if needed in Australia.”
