Manitowoc Crane Care opens new facility in France

8/20/2014

On September 1, Manitowoc will inaugurate its new Manitowoc Training center at the Manitowoc Crane Care facility in St Pierre de Chandieu, France. Once opened, the state-of-the-art facility will provide a single, easily accessible campus for all Manitowoc Crane Care needs.

Moved from its base in Baudemont, the new training center adds to the comprehensive service and support activities available at the St Pierre de Chandieu facility, which opened on July 1st. The facility caters to the complete range of Manitowoc crawler cranes, Potain tower cranes and Grove mobile cranes.

Among its many operations, the new training center will offer 55 different hands-on training modules, running between two days and seven weeks. Manitowoc expects to train more than 1,500 crane technicians per year at the center, which is among the most advanced in the industry, as Ghislaine Journay, manager of the training center, explains.

“Our comprehensive training programs cover every area of crane use, and this new facility will allow us to deliver those courses in the best manner possible,” she says. “Using the latest equipment and cutting-edge technology, together with our in-house experts, we can deliver the optimum support service to our customers.”

The new Manitowoc Crane Care center includes training facilities, a spare parts warehouse and offices for after-sales service.

Five training rooms are equipped with interactive equipment, and a showroom displays over 30 operational tower crane mechanisms for training purposes. To make sure trainees are provided with the most up-to-date skills, the training rooms are equipped with a latest generation driving simulator, specially adapted furniture and touch screen equipment.

Four Potain tower cranes and one Grove mobile crane complete the first-rate facility. These demonstration machines include the latest generation of Potain cranes: an MDT 178 and MDT 248 top-slewing tower crane, and an Igo 50 and Igo T 130 self-erecting tower crane. These machines will enable trainees to put their new found knowledge to the test.

The facility at St Pierre de Chandieu is one of ten Manitowoc training centers. These centers, located all around the world, provide customers and dealers with an excellent environment to learn every aspect of optimum crane usage and care.
