L to R: John Traynor, managing director of Paterson Simons, Arnim Schon, Manitowoc, and Henry Lyne, chairman of Paterson Simons
As it continues to expand its support services in Africa, Manitowoc Crane Care has certified Paterson Simons Ltd., as an official EnCORE partner for West Africa.
Through the EnCORE partner program, Paterson Simons now offers a fully certified repair and refurbishment service for Manitowoc crawler cranes, Grove mobile cranes and National Crane boom trucks from its base in Ghana.
Rugged terrain, tough working environments and demanding lifts means that cranes in Africa must endure more than most. John Traynor, managing director at Paterson Simons, believes EnCORE is the perfect solution for crane owners looking to extend the life of their cranes, rather than replace them.
“Cranes in Africa often have a hard life,” he says. “We can now offer a local and cost-effective solution that not only extends the service life of a crane, but ensures any repair and refurbishment work is done to the highest standards. We’ve been around for six decades and built our business around our customers – I’m confident that this new capability will help to develop our reputation even further.”
Established in 1948, Paterson Simons has been a partner of Manitowoc Cranes for 60 years. The dealer has unrivalled experience in supplying construction equipment to the shipping, mining and construction industries across West Africa. Through its branch in Ghana, Paterson Simons sells, services and rents Manitowoc products, many of which are tailored to the region’s harsh conditions.
“Our customers expect a quality of service that matches the quality of our cranes – whether that be from us directly or from their local dealer,” says Gilberto Ferreira, global EnCORE general manager at Manitowoc. “We are delighted to add Paterson Simons to the program. The company’s knowledge and position in the market is unrivalled, and together we can deliver even better customer support to crane users across the region.”
Started in 2011, the EnCORE program now has 18 partners operating at 32 certified locations around the globe. The success of the program has allowed Manitowoc to expand the service throughout the world. Paterson Simons is the third partner in the EMEA region, with more due to follow in the coming months.
To qualify for the EnCORE program, dealers invest considerable time in training technical staff, including advanced training for welders to earn the correct certifications for welding structural components on cranes. Each dealer must also add a trained structural engineer to deal directly with Manitowoc on technical issues. Manitowoc Crane Care provides full commercial, technical and financial support for all EnCORE partners.
Reflecting the high quality standard of EnCORE work, Manitowoc fully certifies the load charts of all cranes remanufactured through the program.
