Grove GMK6300L clocks 200 hours in five weeks

9/9/2014

Austrian transport and lifting specialist Felbermayr has logged an impressive 200 operating hours in just five weeks with its recently purchased GMK6300L. Working around the clock, the crane has worked on a number of construction projects throughout the local region, predominantly erecting and dismantling tower cranes.

This particular machine has more than one success story to tell – it is also the 200th GMK6300L to be built and sold by Manitowoc’s mobile crane brand Grove.

Earlier this year, Felbermayr took delivery of the crane at a special handover event to mark this impressive milestone. Crane operator Martin Rumpold attended the celebration at Grove’s manufacturing plant in Wilhelmshaven, where the GMK6300L is built, and has been very satisfied with the crane’s performance ever since.

“It is easy to see why the GMK6300L has proven to be such a popular crane,” he says. “It’s quick to set up and very easy to transport, and offers a lift height of almost 120 m. It is ideal for narrow, urban environments and, for me, it is the best crane for erecting and dismantling tower cranes. But it is also very versatile and offers excellent performance on a wide variety of demanding jobs.”

Felbermayr’s 300 t capacity GMK6300L is the first Grove crane to arrive at the company’s Lanzendorf branch, but the crane is rarely seen at the yard due to its busy schedule. Following the handover event, the crane was put to work immediately.

With a class-leading 80 m boom and a maximum lifting height of nearly 120 m, the GMK6300L is a best-seller, and more than 200 units are currently working at projects on four continents. As well as its record-breaking reach and strength, customers are quick to praise its mobility and overall quality.

Established in 1942, Felbermayr Holding employs 2,800 people and provides transport and lifting solutions to businesses and civil engineering projects throughout Europe. The company’s GMK6300L forms an integral part of its 400-strong European fleet.
