Daehan Heavy Equipment, a South Korean crane rental company, added its first Grove crane to its rental fleet: a Grove GMK6300L all-terrain crane. The company has had high demand for the crane and quickly rented it out to work at several petrochemical sites. The crane is saving these companies a considerable amount of time and money.
President of Daehan Crane, Chun Yeon Jung, highlighted one job in particular in which the GMK6300L performed a crucial lift at a petrochemical site located in a mountainous area near Kwangju City, South Korea.
“This job would have been done by a helicopter if not for the GMK6300L and its outstanding reach,” Jung explained. “The space at the job site was so narrow that only the GMK6300L could reach the desired location.”
During the two day job, the crane lifted a valve weighing 0.8 t (0.88 USt) from the bottom of a hill to the top. The crane performed the lift in full configuration, fully utilizing its 80 m (262 ft) boom with a 37 m (121 ft) fixed jib to lift the valve to 120 m (394 ft) in height.
“It is jobs like this that demonstrate exactly why we chose the GMK6300L,” Jung said. “We needed a crane with a long boom to work in the petrochemical industry and this is the only crane with a 300 t (330 USt) capacity and an 80 m (262 ft) boom that is compact enough to fit into tight spaces.”
Another notable lift the GMK6300L performed was for South Korea East-West Power Company. The job took place at the company’s Yeosu Industrial Complex at Honam Thermoelectric Power Plant, located in Jeonnam, Korea. The crane maneuvered a valve weighing two tons (2.2 USt). The crane was configured with 21 m (69 ft) of jib and the boom extended to 69 m (226 ft) in order for the crane to hoist the valve.
Jung explained that after the crane’s first few lifts, the company has high hopes for the success of the GMK6300L in South Korea.
“The crane performed extremely well,” reported Jung. “I believe the GMK6300L will be hugely popular in South Korea. After experiencing the quality of Grove cranes, I put my full trust into these reliable and maneuverable cranes.”
Mr. Seoung Jong Park, general manager of Manitowoc in South Korea, explained the significance of Daehan’s purchase of the Grove GMK6300L.
