National Crane to display 1400A boom truck at TCI Expo 2013

11/4/2013 Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Visitors to National Crane’s booth at TCI EXPO 2013 will be able to view a unique crane from the company that’s ideal for tree care work: the 1400A boom truck. The event is being held in Charlotte, N.C., at the Charlotte Convention Center from Nov. 14 -16.

This year will mark the third time National Crane features a crane in the TCI Expo show. Fittingly, National Crane will display the 29.9 t (33 USt)-capacity 1400A, a boom truck that has become synonymous with tree care.

The 1400A that will be on display is owned by Baton Rouge, LA.-based H&E Equipment, one of the largest Manitowoc dealers in the U.S.

“We feel TCI Expo is a great opportunity to showcase the crane’s capabilities in the tree industry, plus reinforce our own company’s presence to our existing customers and attract new customers,” said John Brockway, senior vice president of H&E Equipment.

The use of the 1400A boom truck has steadily grown in the tree care industry over the last few years. It has a very large lifting capacity, but packs the power into a truck-size chassis, making it extremely maneuverable both on the job site and from job-to-job.

The 1400A’s five-section, 38.8 m (127 ft) boom is the best in its class, enabling operators to reach tall tree tops with ease. Also making tree care projects easier is its hydraulic system that uses pressure compensated control valves with a load-sensing displacement piston pump for smoother operation and reduced maintenance.

Sachin Mohan, vice president of marketing and corporate relations for TCIA, said cranes such as the 1400A are a welcome innovation for the tree care industry.

“The use of cranes and boom trucks for tree care has become popular throughout the Northeast of the U.S. and is beginning to spread to other regions, too,” he said.

In all, some 2,600 attendees and 180 exhibitors made it to the event in 2012, and 2013 should see those numbers grow larger. This year’s expo will feature a museum that commemorates the Tree Care Industry Association’s 75 years in the industry.
