Manitowoc partners with Lift & Access Showcase and Crane Rodeo

1/25/2013 Davenport, Florida, United States

Manitowoc partnered with both the Lift & Access Showcase event and the Crane Rodeo competition, both held the week of October 21 in Davenport, Fla., at the Ritchie Bros. auction facility. Hosted by Maximum Capacity Media events and Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, the event involved companies, products and crane operators from across the lifting industry.

At the Showcase, Manitowoc featured a 23 USt National Crane 851D boom truck purchased by Ring Power Heavy Equipment, a Florida-based crane renter and seller. The crane is unique - featuring a 51 ft, three-section boom with a maximum tip height of 62 ft. Ring Power uses it for transporting materials and equipment among jobsites.

Billy Wingate, Sr., assistant service operations manager for Ring Power, said the National Crane boom truck, which is mounted to a CAT® truck, has made his company’s work more efficient.

“Our National Crane 851D boom truck is a work horse,” he said. “The best-in-class boom length allows us to perform more lifts without a jib and its versatility is a real value to our business.”

Manitowoc was also the awards sponsor of the 2012 Crane Operator Rodeo competition, held by Crane Institute Certification (CIC) and MCM Events. The multi-month competition concluded in Davenport, as 10 finalists tested their operating skills in a variety of timed events that tested their load control, depth perception and accuracy.

Ultimately, Jesse Petit from Phoenix, Ariz., was named the winner. His prize from Manitowoc and Maxiumum Capacity Media was $1,000 cash, a custom belt buckle, a unique leather bomber jacket and a die-cast crane model. David Polce, account manager for Manitowoc Crane Care, and Elias Chakour, regional business manager for Manitowoc presented Petit with his winnings.

More than 400 exhibitors and attendees gathered for the event, which was held on the East Coast for the first time.
