Grove and Potain cranes feature at CTT 2013

6/14/2013 Moscow, Russia

Manitowoc dealers participated in the CTT 2013 show in Russia to help build upon Manitowoc's rising presence in CIS countries and highlight its commitment to the regional market. There were several Grove mobile cranes and a Potain tower crane at the trade show, which was held June 4-8 in Moscow.

The construction industry in CIS markets is growing, and so too is the need to have a strong dealer network that can support the entire region, Jean-Claude Doucene, Manitowoc’s commercial director for Russia and CIS countries, explained.

Russia is one of the most important markets in the world right now – and it continues to grow,” he said. “Meeting our customers’ needs across the vast CIS region is crucial to our success, so we work hard to support our dealers and strengthen our position here. We have a large number of cranes working on key projects here in Moscow, which reflects our position as a market leader in Russia.

Manitowoc’s dealers showcased three cranes at CTT. Universal Spetstechnika, Grove's Russian dealer since 2011, displayed the new 400 t capacity GMK6400 all-terrain crane from Grove, which was one of the largest machines at the show. Alongside the GMK6400 was the 35 t capacity RT540E rough-terrain crane.

The third crane, a Potain MC 85 B tower crane, was displayed on the Kramax stand. Kramax supplies the complete range of Potain tower cranes in Russia and the 5 t capacity, city tower crane was erected to a height of 34.5 m at the show.

Grove’s GMK6400 recently earned Manitowoc the “Innovation Manufacturer” award from Europe’s leading lifting and transportation trade association, the European Association of Abnormal Road Transport and Mobile Cranes. The GMK6400 is currently the strongest crane available on six axles and features a range of unique design elements including a single engine concept, self-rigging MegaWingLift and the MegaDrive hydrostatic drive system.

Manitowoc cranes are currently working on a number of major developments in Russia, including two projects in Moscow where a total of 26 Potain tower cranes are hard at work.
