Bauman Crane reaches above the trees with its new NBT45

9/13/2013 Chalfont, Pennsylvania, United States

Bauman Crane, based in Chalfont, Penn., has concluded its search for a quicker, more-efficient boom truck crane with the purchase of a National Crane NBT45. The company will supplement its taxi crane business with the 45 USt (40.8 t) boom truck, as it has expanded its services to include tree care work.

David Kemmerer, owner of Bauman Crane, explained that the NBT45 will be an asset to the company’s fleet due to its features and the service that comes with it.

“The NBT45 is a quality, long-lasting crane that has the boom length and load charts we are looking for,” Kemmerer said. “Having 43.3 m (142 ft) of boom on a truck that’s mounted on a commercial carrier allows for faster work that will be beneficial in our projects, such as installing air conditioners and tree removal. We also enjoy the support we get from our dealer, Stephenson Equipment.”

Bauman Crane’s fleet includes eight National Crane 1500 series cranes, two National Crane 1400 series cranes, a National Crane 1800 series crane, and the newest edition, the National Crane NBT45.

Dennis Heller, president and CEO of Stephenson Equipment, the National Crane dealer to Bauman Crane, highlighted the National Crane brand as being one of the best.

“The National Crane brand is widely recognized as being very durable and well-designed,” Heller said. “The NBT45 has a long boom and excellent load charts that make it a prime choice for a wide variety of companies and projects. Our customers get great use out of it.”

The NBT45 offers a 43.3 m (142 ft) five-section boom, the longest in the crane’s size range. It is able to perform more lifts without a jib, which reduces set up time and improves efficiency. No travel permits are required for the crane, so transportation is made much simpler.

The crane has an outrigger span of 7.52 m (24.7 ft) that can be positioned at zero, 50 and 100 percent extension. The crane’s 360-degree continuous rotation provides additional flexibility as well. The NBT45 is equipped with a Load Moment Indicator and Work Area Definition System overload protection.

Frank Bauman started Bauman Crane as a young entrepreneur in 1965. He grew his rental fleet throughout the years, performing all the necessary crane repairs himself. In 2001, David Kemmerer purchased the company and helped it grow into a crane-repair business that now services Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland.

Stephenson Equipment has been providing sales and rentals of construction equipment, paving equipment and cranes since 1957. Headquartered in Harrisburg, Penn., the company serves customers from seven locations across Pennsylvania and New York. Stephenson Equipment is an official dealer of Manitowoc cranes, Grove cranes, National Crane boom trucks and Potain tower cranes.
