Manitowoc emphasizes commitment to Indian market at bC India

2/10/2011 Manitowoc, Wisconsin, United States

Manitowoc will highlight its market leadership in India at the inaugural bC India tradeshow. Visitors will see a mobile truck crane and two tower cranes, as well as interactive displays and information on the range of Manitowoc products and services.

The bC India trade fair will take place February 8-11, 2011 at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai. The show expects 20,000 visitors.

Raman Joshi, vice president of Manitowoc Cranes India, said Manitowoc is well positioned in the country.

“We have long seen the potential of India and have invested heavily here,” he said. “We’re now seeing our vision becoming a reality as the country starts to achieve its true potential. At bC India, we will be increasing awareness of Manitowoc Crane Care and showing our latest cranes, each of which has features and benefits of interest to Indian customers.”

Manitowoc will show a Potain MC 125 from the top-slewing tower crane range and an Igo 32 self-erecting crane.

The MC 125 combines a cost-effective lifting tool with industry-leading performance. The new crane will be manufactured at the Manitowoc factory in Pune, India, and is perfect for a variety of city center and general building projects.

Maximum jib length on the MC 125 is 60 m, 5 m longer than the crane it replaces in the Potain range. In its standard configuration, the MC 125 has a choice of five jib lengths, including the 60 m maximum. It also has a maximum freestanding height of 44 m. The crane’s maximum capacity is 6 t, while at the 60 m jib end; it can still lift 1.15 t.

The 4 t capacity Igo 32 is part of Potain’s range of self-erecting cranes that offers significant timesaving on small- and medium-sized job sites. They are often more cost-effective than other material-handling options. They can cover large areas of the job site and have powerful lifting capability allowing them to handle most loads needed on these projects. They also offer greater control than alternative lifting methods and give site managers greater peace of mind through their strength and reliability.

Manitowoc will also show the GT25-5A from the Dongyue mobile truck crane product line. bC India marks the first time these cranes are being shown in India. Manitowoc’s national office will sell the cranes directly and full Manitowoc Crane Care support is in place for them.

The GT25-5A is a 25 t capacity crane mounted on a three-axle carrier. It has a five-section 40.2 m telescopic boom that can offer a maximum lifting height of 49 m when working with the jib. Power for the crane comes from a Sinotruck WD615.92 engine, compliant to Euro III standards that offers a 196 kW power output at 2,200 rpm.

Aside from equipment, a simulator will allow visitors to sit in a replica crane cab and experience what it’s like to operate a Manitowoc crane. Manitowoc Crane Care will also run a training room with displays and information on the variety of available training courses and a tower crane-training course.

bC India is a joint venture between Messe Muenchen International, the organizers of the bauma trade fairs held in Munich, Germany, and AEM, the organizers of the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade fairs held in Las Vegas, Nev., U.S.
